My Story

Have you ever dreamed of trading bustling urban life for a tranquil oasis where every day feels like a vacation?  Well after living through Covid, in Columbus, Ohio, we decided to make that dream a reality.  Here's what drew me to St. Johns, Florida—a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Northeast Florida.  In this blog post, I'll share my journey and the reasons why I chose to make St. Johns my home.

Great Schools: Nurturing Minds for the Future

One of the primary considerations for any my family was the quality of education available. St. Johns boasts a plethora of top-notch schools, providing children with exceptional learning opportunities.  From elementary to high school, the educational institutions here are renowned for their academic excellence and commitment to student success.  These top ranked Florida schools provide my children with access to many programs that their private school in the North did not afford.  As a parent, knowing that my children have access to such outstanding educational resources gives me peace of mind and confidence in their future.

Community Development Districts (CDDs): Shaping a Better Tomorrow

St. Johns is dotted with numerous Community Development Districts (CDDs), each contributing to the region's growth and prosperity.  These well-planned communities offer a range of amenities, from resort-style pools to lush green spaces, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie among residents.  Living in a CDD means enjoying a carefully curated environment where every detail is designed to enhance your quality of life.  The best part about CDD's, is that the fees are part of your property tax bill, which here in Flroida is much lower compared to the property Tax rates in many parts of the county.  So you can enjoy these private community ammenities just by buying or renting in one of the Community Development Districts.   

Mild Winters and Endless Sunshine: Embracing the Florida Lifestyle

One of the undeniable perks of living in St. Johns is the glorious weather.  With mild winters and an abundance of sunshine year-round, outdoor enthusiasts like myself can indulge in their favorite activities without restraint.  Whether it's lounging on pristine beaches, exploring nature trails, or teeing off at world-class golf courses, St. Johns offers the perfect backdrop for an active and fulfilling lifestyle.  You can also garden outdoors year round, which is incredible for those with a green thumb, or those like myself that aspire to have a great garden (haven't mastered this yet).  

The Lure of the St. Johns River & Beaches: Nature's Playground at Your Doorstep

Living in St. Johns means being surrounded by natural beauty at every turn.  Just the drive into my neighborhood is so incredible.  Lush forest pines, spanish moss hangining from the river birch, and the majestic St. Johns River, naturally calm. 

 Whether you're kayaking through mangrove forests or casting a line for the day's catch, the river offers endless opportunities for exploration and relaxation.  And let's not forget the captivating beaches that line the Atlantic coast, where powdery sands and turquoise waters await those seeking solace by the sea.  

Living in a Country Club Environment without the Membership Fees

One of the unique aspects of St. Johns is the abundance of communities that offer a country club lifestyle without the hefty membership fees.  From gated enclaves to master-planned developments, these neighborhoods provide residents with access to exclusive amenities such as golf courses, tennis courts, and clubhouse facilities—all without breaking the bank.  It's like living in a perpetual vacation resort, where luxury and leisure are part of everyday life.

In conclusion, my decision to move to St. Johns, Florida, has been nothing short of transformative & my family is loving it!  From the excellent schools, diverse community and CDD ammenities to the mild winters and endless sunshine, every aspect of life here contributes to a sense of well-being and contentment.  Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat or an active lifestyle, St. Johns offers the perfect blend of serenity and excitement—a place to truly call home.
